Ladies and Gentlemen - Miss Grace Jones
Bruce first met Grace Jones back in the 1980s during the Slave To The Rhythm sessions, at the suggestion of Island's Chris Blackwell; Bruce had originally come up with the Slave title for Frankie Goes To Hollywood, who were attempting (somewhat reluctantly) to cut a version of the track at Sarm Studios - but the Island Records mogul thought it would make a great last single for Grace, whose contract with Island was about to expire. Because the single took so long to record (over 9 months) and several versions were attempted, EMI Records (who were signing Grace to a new deal) became increasingly agitated - especially as rumours were circulating that Grace was in fact recording another album!
In the end, EMI and Island agreed to co-release all the different versions of the single as an album entitled "Slave To The Rhythm".
Fast forward to Buckingham Palace, London June 4th 2012 - Grace Wows the crowds - and the Royal Family - with her classic signature tune.
